Magic Kingdom Tips

What Days To Avoid

The Magic Kingdom is least capable of handling the largest crowds, so we recommend staying away over the weekends.

Go Left

Generally, its better to go left when entering the park and usually its better to get in the left line at most attractions.

Philharmagic

This is a great 5D show that both kids and adult enjoy.  Make sure you pay attention to the smells - really great!

RaceTrack

The lines for this move very very slowly, and the ride itself is not very exciting, especially if people in front of you are clueless.  I recommend skipping this ride.

Space Mountain

Even the kids think this ride is no longer fun.  Its not a smooth ride and just shakes the crap out of you.  We skipped it in 2010 and didn't miss it at all.  Ty really wanted to go on Space Mountain in 2011, and true to our past experience, he was really bored.

Laugh Factory

If you can remember to do this, it might be fun.  Bring along a short joke/riddle.  While waiting for the show they give you information for texting the joke to the show you are about to attend.  They claim to include some of this jokes in the show itself.  Martha tried this in 2010, but her joke didn't get told.  We tried with another joke in 2011, but our joke didn't get told.

The show itself is more fun than you'd expect, though a lot depends on the audience.  Similar to Turtle Talk in EPCOT, the cartoon Monster's Inc crew interacts with the audience.  Pay attention and play along if you get selected - its all fun!

Parades

One of the worst places to be during and immediately after a parade is in Frontierland, especially in the Splash Mountain area.  The throngs of people in that intersection is nearly crushing.  Disney has people stationed that are trying to help direct traffic, but it doesn't work at all.  One solution might be to stand back and wait for the crowd to disperse.

Fireworks

We think the best place for viewing the fireworks is right in front of the castle.  There is no place to sit, though sometimes you can stake out a piece of the curb to sit on.  Watch the crowd during the show.  Its amazing to see all the cameras in action - not the flashes - the digital screens.
